Here is a starting list of the European Individual Ice Speedway Championship. We invite you to Sanok!

On February 19 at 12.45 in Sanok, the first of the two final tournaments of the European Individual Ice Speedway Championship will take place. The second one is planned exactly one month later in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. We already know the starting list. FIM Europe, the Polish Motor Association and Speedwayevents.pl invite you to the competition. Online tickets are sold on the bilety.speedwayevents.pl website and on the ebilet.pl website.

Ice Speedway returns to Sanok after eight years of break. At the “Błonie” track, competitions of the highest rank in this sport discipline have already taken place. It was there, in 2008, that the Individual European Championships were organized for the first time in Poland, which also went down in history because it was the only time when a competitor from outside Russia triumphed. The Austrian representative Franz Zorn won.

Sanok also hosted the World Team Championship and several friendly Sanok Cup tournaments. This city of Podkarpacie can be called the cradle of ice speedway in our country.
– We are very happy that this sport is coming back to Sanok. From the very beginning, I have declared my support for this project, and we are gradually preparing the facility to meet organizational requirements. I wish you all a lot of unforgettable impressions – said the mayor of Sanok, Tomasz Matuszewski.

This year’s European Individual Ice Speedway Championship will be selected in 2022 on the basis of points scored on the track in two tournaments – in Sanok and Tomaszów Mazowiecki. They will be attended by representatives of ten countries – Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Italy and, of course, Poland, represented by Michał Knapp.

The formula of the competition will remain unchanged. It provides for 20 races in the main phase, after which the two most successful competitors will immediately find a place in the final heat. The fight for the remaining two will take place in the play-off, to which the speedway riders from places 3-6 after the main stage will compete. The sum of the points won in two tournaments will determine the final classification, and thus this year’s medalists. The honorary patronage over both of this year’s final tournaments in Poland was assumed by MEP Ryszard Czarnecki.

The defender of the championship title, won in December at the Ice Arena track in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, is Russian Nikita Bogdanov, who in December overtook the Swede Ove Ledstroem and Luke Bauer representing Italy. In this year’s struggle for continental laurels, nine competitors, who also competed last year, were on the starting list. Two more presented themselves during the European championship in Tomaszów Mazowiecki two years ago. The others will make their debut in front of the Polish audience.
