The Dutch Federation nominated Schaap and Reitsma Junior

We met the next participants of the European Individual Ice Speedway Championship, who will present on the Sanok Ice Track “Błonie” on February 25 and 26. The Dutch Motoring Federation (KNMV) decided that, just like last year, Niek Schaap will take one of its rightful places in the competition, while Sebastian Reitsma will get the first chance to present himself in Poland. So the “orange” bet on young people.
Niek Schaap was born in 2002. He started riding motorcycles when he was only 3 years old. Then he tried his hand at the cross machine. As a 15-year-old, he sat on a motorcycle equipped with studded tires for the first time. In the summer, however, he also tries to grow the traditional variety of speedway.

In 2021, he made his debut in the continental ice speedway championship. He was eighth on the track in Arena Lodowa with 7 points. Last year he did worse, both in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and Sanok. He finished 18th overall in the standings.

The second place for the representatives of the Netherlands will be taken by the ambitious Sebastian Reitsma. Just like Jasper Iwema, who represented “the country of tulips” in previous years, part of Polish blood flows in his veins. The mother of this 16-year-old is of Polish descent.

However, Sebastian took over his interest in speedway on ice from his father, who has been training this sport for many years and admits that he has high hopes for his son. This young competitor showed his skills on the ice track for the first time a year ago. Last Saturday, like Schaap, he unsuccessfully competed in the qualifying round of the Individual World Championships. However, he hopes that he will do much better in the European championship.
