More and more names are appearing on the list of participants in the Texom European Individual Ice speedway Championship in Sanok. This time the time has come for representatives of the Czech Republic. The federation there (ACCR) has called up three riders – Lukáš Hutla, Andrej Diviš and one reserve – Radek Hutla. The competition on the “Blonie” ice track in Sanok will last from the 24th to the 25th of February. The start of the competition on both days at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for sale online.
The leader of our southern neighbors will be Lukáš Hutla. He is a player for whom last year’s performance had a bittersweet taste. For two days of competition in Sanok he presented a very high level. In the first of the finals he got into the barrage, while in the second he advanced to the final. In it, however, he was excluded due to a fall. True, the Czech stood on the podium of Sunday’s competition, but he lost his chance for the bronze medal of the Individual European Championships. In the end, he took fourth place with a loss of 2 points to the Swede – Jimmy Olsen. A year earlier, Hutla also chafed against the podium by finishing fourth. He was only a point away from a medal in 2022. This is still a big progress compared to his performance in Tomaszow Mazowiecki in 2021. At that time, the Czech with 4 points won only the 11th place. It seems that the “Blonie” Ice Track is more fortunate.
– Sanok is a very beautiful city, smelling of history. You can’t complain about the track either. For as long as I can remember, it has always been well prepared. However, you have to remember that the motorcycle settings there are different from those we use in Inzell or Heerenveen. I’m glad that there are always great runs there and a pleasant atmosphere. I could see that the fans were having a good time, which is the point after all. Last year I had problems with my technique, and in the end I fell just short of the podium at the European Championships. So I was moderately satisfied – the rider concluded.
Czech media reported that Lukáš Hutla was considering taking a year’s break from competing. The intention only ended, and the reason for the break from ice speedway was the birth of a child.
– In May my son was born, so I spent the winter mainly with my family. I withdrew from fighting for the world championship. I thought about taking a complete year-long break from ice speedway, but since the weather this winter was good and I could train, I agreed to take part in the competition in Sanok. I will come with a clear head. I’m looking forward to racing, good organization and fighting for the best possible result – Lukáš Hutla added.
The function of reserve player a year ago was performed by Andrej Diviš. In this year’s edition he will get a chance to show his potential as a full-fledged participant. The Czech has a history of appearances in the Swedish Superligan, and has also competed in the finals of the European and World Championships in the past.
Diviš boasts a lot of experience, but a medal of European Championship rank is yet to come. His highest ranking was in 2020. Then in Tomaszow Mazowiecki he took 8th place. In this year’s edition of the World Championships he will start with a permanent wild card.
Instead, the role of reserve will be played by Radek Hutla. He is privately the father of Lukaš Hutla. In addition to still holding his competition license, Radek Hutla was also the manager of the Czech national team at the 2018 FIM Ice speedway of Nations. In the past, he has also often competed on the track in Sanok and knows the facility well.
