Three riders will represent Holland in the Texom European Individual Ice Speedway Championship – Sanok 2025: Sebastian Reitsma, Jasper Iwema and Niek Schaap, two of tchem got polish roots. Tickets are available online at biuro.speedwayevents.pl and at ebilet.pl.
The Dutch are a powerhouse in speed skating, so it’s no surprise that they also compete in the ice version of speedway. Texom European Individual Ice Speedway Championship – Sanok 2025 will have 3 dutch riders on the starting list. Czechs and Germans have got same numer but only if you count reserve riders.
Sebastian Reitsma is a rider with polish roots, his mother comes from host country. Therefore he mentioned the possibility of representing Poland in past years’ interviews. 3 years ago in Sanok he finished 9th in the general classification, next two years were slightly worse for him – he came 13th. However, he is still a very young and is just climbing in the European hierarchy. Reitsma has ice speedway in his blood, he inherited his talent from his father, who also competed in ice speedway.

As in the case of Reitsma, Japser Iwema’s mother is also Polish. In the two previous editions of the Sanok championships, Iwema was consistent and took ninth place each year. He did slightly better in his earlier appearances, but a podium position is still a goal to achieve. Moreover Iwema has extensive experience in motor sports. He competed in the Motorcycle World Championship series in the 125cc class, Moto 2, Moto 3, and MotoE.
Finally, Niek Schaap, the only representative of Holland without Polish roots. In his debut in the European championship, in 2021 on the track in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, he took eighth place. In 2024, Schaap did not start. However the Dutchman, who has been involved with motorcycles since he was a kid, could not last without racing and will be present in Sanok.
We invite all fans to the “Błonie” ice track, the final outcome is not known yet but what’s the certain – there will be lot of emotions. Online ticket sales for the event has just begun.
