Change in the start list. Max Niedermaier replaces Marc Geyer

Marc Geyer will not compete at the Texom European Individual Ice Speedway Championship in Sanok. The reason for his absence is an injury. In his place will be Max Niedermaier – privately the cousin of Maximilian Niedermaier junior, who is also in the participant rate. The competition for the title of Europe’s best athlete begins on Saturday 24 February. The day after, the medallists will be announced. The competition starts at 14.00 on both days.

Ice speedway is very popular in the Niedermaier family. The tracks in this sport were blazed by Max Niedermaier’s father of the same name, who was a successful rider. His son has followed the same road and ice speedway is his great passion. Not only because of the tremendous speeds he achieves. He also loves the sport because it requires a considerable talent for improvisation.

– You can’t buy motorbike parts from the shop on every corner. You often have to build them yourself, which also gives me a lot of satisfaction – says Niedermaier. – Racing a motorbike on ice can only be compared to skydiving. You get the same level of adrenaline – he adds.

He has achieved quite a few successes in his career. He has, for example, the German Individual Championships, the Ice Speedway of Nations bronze medal won with the German national team in 2020, and in the current season he has already managed to win the qualifying round for the Individual World Championships and will appear in the Grand Prix.

During the competition in Sanok, he will have the opportunity to fight, among others, with his cousin Maximilian Niedermaier junior. The younger and less experienced rider will appear on the track with the number 15 on his jersey. The newly appointed German representative will start with the number four.
