Speedwayevents.pl in consultation with FIM Europe and the Polish Motor Association would like to inform about the new date of the European Individual Ice Speedway Championship. The competition for the title of the individual European Ice Speedway Champion is scheduled for Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 4.30 p.m. in Arena Lodowa in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. PKN Orlen is a main sponsor of the event.
Originally, the event was supposed to take place on March 21, but due to the pandemic situation related to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the organizers had to cancel it. The second date was December 5, but it was finally decided that the competition for medals would take place on December 13. The start of the first race will take place at 4.30 pm. According to the state administration regulations currently in force in Poland, the competition will take place without the participation of the public. There will be a live broadcast on TV, details will be given in a separate announcement.
We would like to remind you that the event in Tomaszów Mazowiecki will be a one-day event. The three medalists of the Old Continent championship will be selected by a total of 22 races. 20 will be the main phase, after which the two best riders, those with the most points, will advance to the grand finals. The stakes will be completed by the best two from the play-off race, where the speedway riders will go, after the main phase, they will be placed 3-6. The winner of the final race will be the European champion, competitors from the next two places will win silver and bronze.
The day before, on December 12, there will be a training session. The stake includes 16 riders who will represent 10 European federations. The Polish Motor Association as the host is awarded one place. Applications for individual federations are accepted until December 3, so we have to wait a while for the full cast.
